I walked about 50 feet for this sunset photo and the moon behind Mount Tetakawi. It was basically taken from our deck. We are staying in San Carlos, Mexico for a couple months. The term Tetakawi either means hill of stone as most people say “Goat Tit Mountain.” Either way, there seems to be surprisingly few photo opportunities in this sleepy little town.
All the people are friendly, natives as well as the retired US and many Canadians. So far the food is good as well. On occasion a local fisherman will knock on our door with the day’s fresh catch. This small town, more than most, is a great example of what I call industrious hard-working people doing their best to eke out a living. Window washers at many intersections in nearby Guaymas and people asking to push your cart at Wal-Mart. Among these hard-working Mexicans, are large homes, sailboats and retirees trying to live on the cheap. An interesting contrast. Me? I am using the downtime to plan my first ever trip to Europe.
